We’re creating a Community Hub for your village, through alteration and improvement to the inner church building. Whilst our Grade II listed exterior will remain unchanged, inside it will provide a multi purpose community hall as well as a place of worship!
We are ready to go! The Church re-ordering starts in September 2024 and we’ve got a substantial project fund. We do need some additional funding, and we’re hoping you will help us raise the remaining shortfall so we can begin our project for your community. Please come and see us or contact Fr Lyndon if you think you could help us with fundraising activities, personal donations, pledges, or sponsorship. Chat to us and find out more or use the QR code to donate. Thank you and read on to find out more about how we're doing!
If you've lived in Willaston a while, you'll remember when Christ Church had a Church Hall, across the road where Elizabeth Cottages now stand. Well, our re-ordered church will enable us to combine a worship space with a church hall! With flexible, moveable seating, AV facilities, broadband, one large worship/ meeting space and a more cosy rear room for smaller meetings, and free on street parking outside, Christ Church will be able to meet the needs of the village, local businesses, local community and outreach groups. 169 years ago, Christ Church would have been the heart of the community. We want to make it that again in 2024 and for the next 169 years and beyond.
We believe that life is better when we do it together. That's why we are going to offer space for small or larger groups and events where you can connect with others and build meaningful relationships. Things like Baby Gym, Community Safety Support, Warm Space in Winter, Book Clubs, Craft Workshops, and much more. We want to create a real feeling of Christ Church in the Community, the way it used to be.
Not forgetting faith, of course, because that is very important. We believe that spiritual growth is a lifelong journey. We want to help you in finding and growing your faith and to deepen your relationship with God. The church will still be a church - still a place of worship where you will be able to come and commune with God as often as you wish. The good news is that in forming the Community Hub, it'll mean your church is far more accessible seven days a week!
Whilst our plans are approved and in place for the re-ordering of the church, we still need to know from you what sort of things you'd like to see the Christ Church Community Hub provide. Is it a Youth Club? Regular Community Events? What do you want from us and how can we deliver it?
We would love to hear from you and help you get connected at Christ Church Willaston! Click below to contact us and learn more about how you can get involved.
Community Hub @ Christ Church will provide the village with a flexible space to hold community focussed activities. For businesses, the space will offer out of office activities, meetings, interviews, and training without impacting how your business operates! Commencing in September 2024, our re-ordering works will give you the choice of two event hubs, one for larger events and one for more intimate meetings. We have a substantial project fund, mostly raised through the sale of the old Church Hall (where Elizabeth Cottages stand now) and through fundraising activities we've held this year. Of course, running and maintaining the Community Hub will still require funding and we are seeking donations and grant aid to help us facilitate ongoing costs and obligations.
It's an exciting time for our church as it's never had such a comprehensive make-over in its 169 year history, and YOU can be part of it! How? Well, come along to one of our community events and/ or make a donation.
We know that with cost of living rises and other commitments, it's sometimes difficult to give, but every pound from you will be match funded by a generous donor, to a maximum of £50,000! And your pound (or ten, or much more!) will become part of your village's and Christ Church history.
THANK YOU!
We want to build fellowship and play a central role in our community by providing safe, welcoming and diverse opportunities for people. We're providing a flexible space to use for worship and community needs. With improved heating, AV installations, and comfortable seating the church will attract a wide variety of new, community users - perhaps Youth Clubs, Reading Groups, Book Clubs, Choirs, Keep Fit Clubs. There will be also be space for smaller groups for tutoring or business meetings.
Christ Church believes in Whole Life Worship, in gathering to celebrate and honour Jesus together through a broad range of services, and supporting each other. We also believe that people want social space within the village to make up for the loss of the church hall and the British Legion. In reordering, the church will grow and become more effective in connecting faith and community under one roof. Christ Church will provide an accessible space for a multitude of service styles, church events and community focussed projects.
We believe in growing as Disciples, and seeking to listen to and encourage one another within our worship of Christ and within our community around us. Christ Church has already raised significant capital through the sale of assets, but a project of this scale needs adequate funding in order to complete the reordering to meet multi faceted needs. That's why we are applying to several grant funders but also why we do also need to ask for generosity from the local community. A donation, no matter how small, is very welcome. Please use the QR code below. Thank you.
Inside our Grade II Listed church building, you will find a traditional layout which works well for worship, but perhaps does not work so well in acting as the Community Hub we are providing for the village.
We believe that by making these internal alterations, we will provide a large, flexible space that works as well for worship as it does for other community events. The alterations will also provide a second, smaller room ideal for business or smaller events.
The Reordering start date is approaching fast and we’re making preparations.
